Why "Thanos Wins" is such a unique story

                                                                     Thanos Wins
He Puts Hulk On A Leash is listed (or ranked) 8 on the list There's Already A Future Of The Marvel Universe Where Thanos Has Won (And It Is Awesome!)

"Thanos Wins" is a graphic novel written by Donny Cates and Antonio Fabella, illustrated by Geoff Shaw. It's a Marvel comic that takes place in an alternate future where an alien warmonger, Thanos, had wiped out all life in the universe (except for a handful of people). In this story, the future Thanos, with the help of his right-hand man, recruit a Thanos from the present to accomplish one last mission at the end of time.
Here are three reasons you should read "Thanos Wins"

1. It's dark
Marvel comics are infamous for being light-hearted and easy-going compared to other comic producers. This story proves that stereotypes wrong. In "Thanos Wins", it is shown that Thanos had brutally killed all of Earth's heroes in one massive invasion. He ripped Iron Man in half, fed Captain America to the Hulk. Yup, you read that right. Hulk ate Captain America. He dropped a building on iconic heroes like Spider-Man. This isn't the future you would want to live in. The whole universe has gone silent after Thanos's massive crusade against life, and this story tells the aftermath of this crusade, or in other words, the end of the universe.

2. A new character
In this novel, they introduced a new character to the audience, who goes by the name of "The Cosmic Ghost Rider". His origin is extremely complicated to write down, and a whole blog post would be needed to tell his story. But the pure bizarreness that comes not only from his origin but also his personality is similar to the iconic anti-hero Deadpool. Over the millions of years of his life, his mind has slowly deteriorated and he's gone completely crazy which only adds to his overall hilariousness. Overall, he's a nice addition to the Marvel Universe and he's already had a comic line dedicated to him written after this novel.

3. A good conclusion (major spoilers ahead)
By the end of the book, the future Thanos had lived for so long that he basically wanted to end his life. However, the future Thanos was so arrogant, that if he died he wanted it to be by his own hands.
And as the present Thanos said himself, "No one kills Thanos but Thanos". However, when the younger Thanos had the older Thanos down on his feet, and the future Thanos screamed, "Do it. End this. Thanos please!", the future Thanos simply let him go and traveled back to the present. The reason the younger Thanos did not end his future self, is because the younger Thanos was disgusted by how his future self was begging to die, and said, "Kings do not beg." It was the younger Thanos arrogance that stopped him from killing his future-self, and the present Thanos made the intent to never become his future self. In the end, it is revealed that the younger Thanos fulfilled his intent, as the timeline slowly started fading away. In my opinion, this is such a great conclusion because it shows the true scope of Thanos's personality, his arrogance. Even if his future is too be the king of the universe, fulfilling his ultimate dream of ending all life, he wouldn't sacrifice his honor to do so.

  1. I think you did a good job on this post. You highlighted the pros of the story well and though I'm not nearly as big a fan of this arc as you are reminded me of the parts I enjoyed. The only issue I have is that the first reason is built on the assumption that marvel is more "light-hearted and easy-going compared to other comic producers" which has never been true. I think perhaps emphasizing that this is a stereotype built from the movies rather than from the company in general would make the point slightly better. Overall good job.

  2. Where can I read this? I'm absolutely hooked based on what you wrote here. The idea of Thanos actually killing almost everything is very intriguing, and with the introduction of characters like Cosmic Ghost Rider, it really brings you in. Also Theodore, I have disagree. I feel like there definitely is a general idea of DC being the darker comics publisher and Marvel being slightly more light-hearted. But I guess it might have come from the movies.
    Overall, good review.

  3. I really like how you stuck to what you love and did a blog post about a marvel comic book. I really enjoy how you try to mention everything even though it is something that is difficult to explain. I also liked the fact that you mentioned there were spoilers ahead of time so we could avoid those. Great post!
